Disney and Brazilian flip-flop creators Havaianas have announced a new strategic alliance that will see dedicated Havaianas retail stores open at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort theme parks.
“We are thrilled to have entered into this relationship with the Walt Disney World Resort, the Disneyland Resort and Disney Vacation Club because they embody instant joy much like Havaianas,” said Marcio Moura, Havaianas’ USA President. “We look forward to creating a harmonious relationship and further expanding opportunities within the Walt Disney World Resort, the Disneyland Resort and Disney Vacation Club in the coming years.”
The alliance will make Havaianas the official Flip-Flop of Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort, Disney Vacation Club, and later in the fall, Havaianas will become a sponsor of runDisney races.
Disney and Havaianas have worked together over the past four years creating Disney-themed flip-flops. This new agreement will see dedicated retail stores open inside Disney’s theme parks, including the Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon water parks and Disney California Adventure. In addition, 22 existing stores through the parks will carry the Havaianas flip-flops.
Havaianas also operates a dedicated retail store in The Landing district of Disney Springs.
Walt Disney World has released the dates for the 2015 winter refurbishments of both Walt Disney World water parks.
Blizzard beach will be closing first this year, with its refurbishment beginning on October 25 2015 through to January 2 2016.
Typhoon Lagoon will then close for its refurbishment on January 3 2016, through to March 12 2016.
Blizzard Beach has closed two of the water park’s main attractions because of a water main leak.
The water slides Summit Plummet and Slush Gusher on Mount Gushmore are now closed until further notice as repairs are made. The rest of the park is currently operating as normal.
Disney will be providing transportation to Typhoon Lagoon for those guests who wish to use that park’s water slides.
Guests that are staying at Disney’s Polynesian Resort while the Nanea Volcano Pool refurbishment will receive a complimentary day at Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park.
The main pool’s refurbishment is expected to begin in late July of this year and last until early 2015. Precise dates for the refurbishment have not been announced by Disney so far.
Here is an excerpt from the letter that Disney has sent guests that are staying at the Polynesian Resort –
“We anticipate the Nanea Volcano Pool and Slide to close for enhancement in late July through early 2015. Should you find the pool unavailable during your stay, one complimentary ticket to Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park, our watery winter wonderland featuring waterslides, a wave pool, water play areas for the kids and more, will be given to each member of your party. To ensure you have a seamless visit to the Park, we will provide transportation to a dedicated check-in at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park where you will receive your complimentary tickets and towels.”
