Boatwright’s Dining Hall to Re-Open and Storybook Dining at Artist Point Return in December

Walt Disney World has announced that Boatwright’s Dining Hall at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside will re-open to guests on December 14th.

Disney has stated that reservations for dinner at Boatwright’s Dining Hall open on December 2nd.

Returning to the menu will be the all-you-care-to-enjoy Chef’s Platter featuring ribs, Nashville hot chicken, smoked sausage, and barbecued beef brisket with mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, street corn, and green beans. Also on the menu is General Fulton’s Prime Rib or the Deep-South Shrimp and Grits, the signature Boatwright’s Jambalaya and the plant-based Boatwright’s Harvest Jambalaya.

Meanwhile over at the Wilderness Lodge, more character dining will be returning with the re-opening of Storybook Dining at Artist Point.

As part of the new Character Dining experience that is happening all over property, guests will see Snow White, Dopey, Grumpy, and The Queen stroll through the Enchanted Forest while enjoying a prix fixe dinner with the choice of individually plated entrées and shared starters and desserts.

Returning will be the Royal Prime Rib Roast and the vegetarian A Stroll Through Nature along with the “Poison” Apple dessert with dark chocolate-apple mousse.

Pricing for dinner is $60 for adults, and $39 for children. Reservations can be made from December 2nd.

Since Walt Disney World re-opened to guests last July following the closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Disney has gradually been re-opening its resort hotels.

With the opening of these hotels, Disney has taken a measured and deliberate approach to implement a number of health and safety measures based on guidance from various governmental authorities and health agencies.

Disney Resort Hotels Scheduled to Reopen—and Currently Accepting Reservations

Walt Disney World is planning to open the following resort hotels to booked Guests on the following dates. These Disney Resort hotels are currently accepting reservations.

June 6, 2021 Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
Late July 2021 Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

While a re-opening date was previously shared for Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, it will remain closed until further notice, as the re-opening timeline continues to be re-evaluated.

Everyone needs to remember that future re-opening dates are subject to change and Guests’ reservations could still be modified to other Disney Resort hotels if needed.

Disney has stated that given the current situation, there are some Disney Resort hotels and other areas that are not, as of this time, being scheduled for re-opening yet.

Disney also has stated that they will continue to monitor the constantly changing environment and its impact on the state of Florida as they find the right time to welcome back even more Guests and Cast Members.

Walt Disney World to Celebrate Mickey’s Birthday Saturday

The Magic Kingdom will be celebrating Mickey Mouse’s birthday on Saturday November 18th with special entertainment, merchandise and desserts.

The day will kick off with a special Welcome Show birthday moment and rope-drop, followed by a Tomorrowland birthday-themed dance party, birthday celebration during Move it! Shake it! Dance & Play It! Street Party, and finally a Happily Ever After pre-show birthday moment.

Guests arriving at any of the Walt Disney World theme parks will also receive a birthday button.

If you’re celebrating Mickey tomorrow, be sure to pick up one of his tasty treats and wish him a happy birthday. All of these items will be available all weekend, November 17-19

Located along the water’s edge, Geyser Point is designed with cedar beams and natural stone to fit into the design that’s reminiscent of the Pacific Northwest (especially cool after dark with campfires and the iconic Electrical Water Pageant on Bay Lake).

At the bar, artisanal sips add an authentic touch to beverage menus, including drinks which feature Pacific Northwest brewers and distilleries, and wines focusing on heritage varietals grown in Oregon and Washington.

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, a quick-service walk-up window next to the bar makes it easy to order and dine alfresco.

Breakfast includes everything from scrambled eggs with sausage and bacon to crab cakes Benedict and maple-cinnamon pancakes. For a lighter bite, seasonal fruit is served with lavender honey-yogurt, and steel-cut oatmeal is topped with dried fruit and nuts. For kids, scrambled eggs, buttermilk pancakes and granola with apples, strawberries and honey-yogurt dip is on the menu.

Disney Names New DVC Development at Wilderness Lodge and Renames Existing Villas

Disney Vacation Club has announced the name of its new development at the Wilderness Lodge resort.

Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will be the name of what will become the 14th Disney Vacation Club Resort.

With the new naming, the original Disney Vacation Club property at Wilderness Lodge, the Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, will be renamed Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

Also announced was that a new name will be coming to the redesigned Hidden Springs Pool area.

Disney-Area Resorts Do Well on U.S. News & Report’s Best Hotels List

Four Seasons Orlando

U.S. News & World Report’s annual list of best hotels in Florida is out and two Disney-area resorts made the top 10.

Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort came in at No. 2, while Villas of Grand Cypress, Orlando ranked ninth. Of the two, Four Seasons is located on Disney property in the Golden Oak residential community.

Four Seasons and Grand Cypress ranked first and second, respectively, in the “Best Orlando-Walt Disney World Hotels” category.

The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes ranked third in that category, followed by Waldorf Astoria Orlando. This marks the second year in a row Four Seasons took the top spot among best Orlando hotels.

Five Walt Disney World Resort hotels made the top 10 Orlando hotels — Disney’s Grand Floridian (5), Disney’s Wilderness Lodge (6), Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge (7), Disney’s Beach Club Resort (9) and Disney’s BoardWalk Inn (10).

The other non-Disney property hotel in the top 10 was The Alfond Inn. The Winter Park hotel, owned by neighboring Rollins College, came in at No. 8.

In the best hotels in Florida category, Four Seasons Orlando was topped by The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort. The Breakers in Palm Beach came in at No. 3.

Walt Disney World to Test Direct Bus Service from Magic Kingdom to Hoop-Dee-Doo & Mickey’s Backyard BBQ

Disney will begin testing a new bus route that will bring  direct service from the Magic Kingdom to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground-Settlement Depot.

This four week test route will begin April 20th and will operate daily from 4pm to 11:30pm, making it ideal for those guests who will be attending either Hoop-Dee-Doo or Mickey’s Backyard BBQ at Fort Wilderness.

Whispering Canyon Cafe Breakfast to be Temporarily Relocated Next Week

Because of work being done on the Wilderness Lodge lobby, breakfast at Whispering Canyon Cafe will be relocated to Artist Point next week.

The move will affect breakfast only from February 5-12. Lunch and dinner will continue to be served in Whispering Canyon as usual.

The usual server provided fun and games will be on hand, and the full menu and will be available in Artist Point, with the exception of pancakes, which apparently need kitchen equipment not available at Artist Point.

Wilderness Lodge’s Silver Creek Springs Feature Pool Closing for Major Refurbishment this Fall

The main pool at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort will be closing for a refurbishment later this year.

The Silver Creek Springs pool is expected to be closed September 3 – November 27 2014.

During that time, the quiet pool will remain open, and guests will be able to use the pools at both Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and Disney’s Contemporary Resort, with transportation provided to both.
