Disney Springs to Open at 5 PM Today for Resort Guests Only, Theme Parks to Re-Open at 8 AM Saturday

Disney Springs will re-open at 5 PM today for Walt Disney World resort hotel guests only.

Only a limited number of locations will be open, including Splitsville, AMC Movies, and some restaurants and shops.

Walt Disney World will also re-open all four theme parks will reopen on Saturday October 8 at 8am.

Blizzard Beach Water park, Disney Springs, and mini golf will have normal operations on Saturday.

  • All 4 Walt Disney World theme parks are closed through Friday, October 7, 2016. Theme parks are scheduled to open at 8:00 AM Saturday, October 8, 2016. Posted closure times remain the same.
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park will open for Extra Magic Hours at 7:00 AM ET on Saturday, October 8, 2016 for Resort Guests only.
  • EPCOT World Showcase will open at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 8, 2016. Frozen Ever After will open at 8:00 AM on Saturday, October 8, 2016.
  • Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park is closed through Friday, October 7, 2016. Operating hours will resume as scheduled on Saturday, October 8, 2016.
  • Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park is closed through Friday, October 7, 2016. Operating hours will resume as scheduled on Saturday, October 8, 2016.
  • Disney Springs is closed through Friday, October 7, 2016. Operating hours will resume as scheduled on Saturday, October 8, 2016. Characters in Flight at Disney Springs is closed through Sunday, October 9, 2016.
  • Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has been canceled for tonight, Friday, October 7, 2016. For re-booking, refunds and other options, please call (407) 939-7818 beginning at 9:00 AM Eastern Time on Monday, October 10, 2016. Guests under 18 years of age must have parent or guardian permission to call.
  • Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground—including Campsites and Cabins—is closed through Friday, October 7, 2016. All performances of Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue and Mickey’s Backyard BBQ through that date have been canceled as well.
  • Disney’s Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has been canceled through Friday evening, October 7, 2016.
  • Select spa locations—including La Vida Health Club at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, Senses – A Disney Spa at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Senses – A Disney Spa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa and Ship Shape Massage Salon Fitness—are closed through Saturday, October 8, 2016.
  • Events scheduled through October 8, 2016 at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex—including the Disney Cross Country Classic 2016 and Baseball Canada National Team Fall Training sessions—have been canceled. Complex operating hours will resume as scheduled on Saturday, October 8, 2016.
  • Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf and Winter Summerland Miniature Golf will resume operating hours as scheduled on Saturday, October 8, 2016.

Hurricane Matthew Forces Disney Cruise Lines to Change Cruise Itineraries

The anticipated path of Hurricane Matthew has forced Disney Cruise Lines to alter the itineraries of three of it’s cruise ships.

Disney Fantasy

The Disney Fantasy, set to sail on Saturday (Oct. 8), will depart on Sunday (Oct. 9). The cruise has been changed to a six-night Caribbean cruiseThe ship will make stops in Cozumel, Grand Caymen and Castaway Cay.

Guests who stay on the revised itinerary will receive a pro-rated refund equal to one-night of their cruise fare and an on-board credit. Guests who want to rebook a future cruise, or cancel their cruise for a full refund can call 1-866-325-3905.

The Disney Fantasy that set sail last Saturday (Oct. 1) will stay at sea for an extra day. The ship will return to Port Canaveral on Sunday.

Disney Dream

The Disney Dream that set sail on Monday (Oct. 3) will stay at sea for an extra day. The ship is expected to return to Port Canaveral on Saturday.

The Disney Dream scheduled to set sail on Friday (Oct. 7) has been canceled. Refunds will automatically be processed back to guests. For more information, call 1-866-325-3905.

Disney Magic

The  ship sailing on Friday (Oct. 7) from New York has been changed to a Canadian itinerary with stops in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Guests who stay on the revised itinerary will receive an onboard credit. Guests who want to rebook for a future trip at a discount or cancel their cruise can call 1-866-325-3905.

The Disney Cruise Line contact center is closed because of Hurricane Matthew. The contact center will reopen Saturday.

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Cancelled Tonight due to Hurricane Matthew

Walt Disney World has cancelled tonight’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party due to severe weather associated with the arrival of Hurricane Matthew.

Walt Disney World has not yet made any announcement regarding Friday’s party.

Walt Disney World is Asking Fort Wilderness Campground Guests to Leave by Thursday Morning

Walt Disney World says guests staying at its Fort Wilderness campground have to leave by 11 AM on Thursday as Hurricane Matthew approaches.

Disney said it is working with guests on an individual basis, accommodating requests for relocating when necessary but also encouraging those who are able to leave the area to do so.  A Disney spokeswoman said it would make more sense for people to leave the property with their RVs than to risk damage to their vehicles.

There has been no word from Walt Disney World about whether its theme parks will close as the hurricane approaches. SeaWorld has announced  it will close early Thursday and that it will be shut down all day Friday. Universal Orlando also has not yet announced any closure plans.

Latest Information Regarding Impact of Hurricane Matthew for Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World has not released an official announcement yet, though one is expected sometime in the next 24 hours.  Even though an announcement  has not been made, operational impacts are now starting to come into effect at Walt Disney World due to the approaching Hurricane Matthew.

The current closures and changes to normal operations are:

  • Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon closed Thursday October 6th and Friday October 7th.
  • Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground closed through Sunday.
  • Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue and Mickey’s Backyard BBQ cancelled through Sunday.
  • Spirit of Aloha Dinner show at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort cancelled on Thursday October 6 and Friday October 7.
  • Characters in Flight at Disney Springs closed through to Sunday.

Expect more operational changes as the severity of the storm becomes clearer over the next 24 hours.
