As the 2017-18 NBA season tips off, we want to give you a first look at the new NBA Experience at Walt Disney World Resort coming to Disney Springs.
Inspired by the modern architecture of new NBA arenas around the country, the building design exudes the same spirit and energizing impact, while creating an unmistakable and entertaining connection to the NBA in a way that only Disney can.
It’s one of several ways Disney Springs is still growing and adding new experiences to delight and entertain our Guests.
“We are inspired by the design of the new building and the energy that it will bring to the West Side of Disney Springs,” said Senior Vice President of Disney Springs and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex Maribeth Bisienere.
The state-of-the-art space will include interactive games and competitions, immersive experiences, a retail store and an adjacent restaurant.
NBA President, Global Partnerships Sal LaRocca, recently commented on the project, sharing, “This one-of-a-kind experience is sure to be enjoyed by basketball and Disney fans of all ages who visit Disney Springs from around the world.”
And, with the start of the NBA season, we also want to wish our hometown NBA team, the Orlando Magic, good luck. Over the years, the relationship between Walt Disney World Resort and the Orlando Magic basketball team has been, well, magical. Now it’s about to get even more magical as we expand our relationship as the team’s uniform sponsor.
As part of the NBA’s three-year trial period in which the league welcomes uniform sponsorship partners, Disney will have its logo on the Magic players’ jerseys for all games starting next season.
Disney became one of the team’s Champion of the Community partners in 2010, and this expanded partnership is another way we are working with the Magic to solidify Central Florida’s presence as a global sports destination. And it’s just cool.
Disney is also adding a special seating and hospitality area at the Amway Center for annual passholder upgrades during select Orlando Magic games. As part of our expanded partnership, Magic fans can purchase or renew their Walt Disney World Annual Passes at the Amway Center, including the Orlando Magic Team Shop. And doing it there comes with some perks. Throughout the multi-year agreement, fans who renew or purchase their annual pass at the Amway Center will receive one of the new Orlando Magic jerseys with the Disney logo.

The end is drawing near the once-popular DisneyQuest arcade at Walt Disney World.
Disney announced today that the 5-story center of “gaming awesomeness” at Disney Springs will close for good on July 3.
The NBA Experience will open in the soon-to-be vacant space at the resort’s open-air shopping and entertainment complex.
The end of DisneyQuest, which opened in 1998, has been expected, but delayed multiple times before the complex finally received its final death sentence.
Home to some of the first immersive virtual reality rides like CyberSpace Mountain, DisneyQuest was the model for what Disney hoped would be a franchise with locations all over the country.
However, when attendance dipped in the Central Florida location, as well as one in Chicago, the plans were quickly canceled.
So if you’re an old-school or new-school gamer, you better hurry to get into the action before DisneyQuest closes its doors for good.
The Walt Disney Company and the National Basketball Association announced Wednesday that they are developing “The NBA Experience at Walt Disney World Resort,” which will feature “immersive NBA video productions and numerous interactive experiences” as well as of course a restaurant and a retail store.
“We look forward to uniting the passionate, global fan bases of the NBA and our longtime partner, Disney,” said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. “Working with the world’s top creator and operator of themed entertainment attractions, we hope to bring the magic of Disney and the excitement of the NBA to guests from around the world.”
With the new experience, which doesn’t have an opening date yet, NBA players will likely join the legions of NFL players and even Roger Federer to have their pictures taken with Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and the rest of the crew.
