Disney to Make Maleficent and Jungle Book Sequels

A second Jon Favreau-directed Jungle Book will be made and Angelina Jolie will reprise her role in a Maleficent sequel, Disney has announced.
The studio also confirmed a Mary Poppins sequel, starring Emily Blunt, and 101 Dalmatians spin-off, Cruella.
The Mary Poppins film will also star Lin-Manuel Miranda, who wrote and performed in Broadway hit, Hamilton.

A Tim Burton-directed Dumbo and a “Tinker Bell project” starring Reese Witherspoon are also in development.

Also confirmed by Disney were a live-action adaptation of Madeline L’Engle’s fantasy novel A Wrinkle In Time, the Dwayne Johnson-starring Jungle Cruise and The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, a Christmas story based on ETA Hoffman’s 19th Century tale.

The studio also confirmed writers for the projects, which include Kelly Marcel, who wrote the screenplays for Fifty Shades of Grey and Saving Mr Banks, penning the Cruella film, and Jennifer Lee, who wrote Frozen and Wreck-It Ralph, scripting A Wrinkle In Time.

While not confirming release dates for any of the films, the studio did announce a release schedule, which will see live-action films based on fairy tales released in July 2017, April 2018 and December 2019, and another two untitled films put out in March and December 2018.

Tinker Bell Half Marathon Draws Record Number of Runners

A record of 16,000 runners have entered Sunday’s fourth annual Tinker Bell Half Marathon through the Disneyland Resort and streets of Anaheim, being held on Mother’s Day for the first time.

The field for the 13.1-mile race is 87 percent female, with runners from all 50 states and 22 nations participating, according to Raquel Giorgio of Disney Sports Public Relations.

The course begins on Disneyland Drive, goes through Disney California Adventure, Disneyland and Downtown Disney, downtown Anaheim, the Anaheim Center Street Promenade, past the Anaheim Ice skating rink, City Hall and Anaheim GardenWalk shopping center, concluding near Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel.

Organizers have added the Pixie Dust Challenge, awarding a special medal for runners who finish both today’s Tinker Bell 10K and the half-marathon. About 5,000 runners have entered both races, Giorgio said.

Walt Disney World’s Peter Pan Attraction to Debut New Interactive Queue

The queue at Walt Disney World’s Peter Pan’s Flight ride will soon get new interactive features.

Guests standing in line will see a 3-D Tinker Bell flying around Wendy’s bedroom. A new technology will make it seem as though she is flying right up to people standing in line.

According to reports guest’s shadows will be manipulated to make them interact with shadows of butterflies and a top hat.

And at the end of the attraction, Tinker Bell will fly by and sprinkle departing visitors with pixie dust.

The features are expected to undergo some testing during a soft opening period this weekend. Sometime next week, the features should become permanent.

Tinker Bell Meet & Greet Moving to WDW’s Town Square Theater

On May 20 2014, the Tinker Bell meet and greet will be relocated to Town Square Theater on Main Street U.S.A.

While in the new Garden Theater, you will shrink down to the size of a fairy where you will find a magical portal to be transported to Tinker Bell’s Magical Nook.  Only Tinker Bell will be available for meet and greets

FastPass+ will be available for the new meet and greet.

Mickey Mouse will also continue to be available for his meet and greet at Town Square Theater.
